Minutes from car production: the marriage

car production

See how Škoda cars are made, step by step. In car manufacturing jargon, the marriage is the moment when the body and chassis are joined together. Watch one such marriage in the next episode of our Minutes from car production series.

You probably didn’t expect to see a marriage in our series. But it’s actually a common occurrence on the production line, which in this case is assembling a Škoda Kodiaq. It’s called this because the engine, gearbox, driveshafts and axles, fuel tank and various other elements aren’t fitted onto the car individually, but all at once. The entire assembly set arrives under the body on a special trolley and is then raised up. The two units are then joined together by workers using manipulators.
