The SEAT Leon has retained the ‘Best Family Car of the Year’ accolade at the What Car? Car of the Year Awards 2022.
The Leon topped the category for the second consecutive year after also winning the title in 2021.
The defending champion in the family car class was praised as a “brilliant all-rounder” thanks to its spacious interior, fantastic handling and ample standard kit, rendering the Leon the outstanding proposition in its class for private cars buyers and business alike.
The SEAT Ibiza was also shortlisted for ‘Small Car of the Year’, commended for its tidy handling and roomy interior at a competitive price. Additionally, the SEAT Arona was also shortlisted for ‘Small SUV of the Year’, offering plenty of interior space, enjoyable handling and a good level of equipment.
Steve Huntingford, Editor at What Car?, said: “Like James Bond, a good family car needs to be able to turn its hand to just about anything, and for the second year in a row the Leon does that more convincingly than anything else you’ll spy in the family car category. It offers generous interior and boot space, lots of standard equipment, and a fun yet comfortable driving experience. And all for a very competitive price.”
The Leon’s win continues the success of last year when it received a number of awards, including the ‘Up to 1400kg’ category at the What Car? Tow Car Awards, ‘Best Medium Family Car’ award by Parkers and ‘Tow Car of the Year’ at the Caravan and Motorhome Club Tow Car Awards.
Suited to any family’s needs, the SEAT Leon combines an abundance of standard technology and options, available in six trims (SE, SE Dynamic, FR, FR Sport, Xcellence or Xcellence Lux), four engine (petrol, mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid and diesel), as well as two bodystyles (hatch and Estate), the vehicle will offer everything the driver and family needs.
