For the second consecutive year, SEAT Ateca has been named one of the best tow cars on the market at the 2022 What Car? Tow Car Awards.
The Ateca 1.5 TSI evo DSG-auto was crowned winner of the 1400-1549kg category, which follows its 2.0 TDI 4Drive DSG-auto stablemate’s win in the 1550-1699kg category last year.
The Ateca impressed the What Car? judges with excellent stability, especially in the emergency lane change manoeuvre, and effortless torque delivery from its efficient 1.5-litre petrol engine.
Commenting on the win, Steve Huntingford, Editor at What Car?, said: “The SEAT Ateca has turned into a regular favourite at the Tow Car Awards. Last year the diesel 4x4 won an award; this time it’s the turn of the front-wheel-drive 1.5-litre petrol. In this form, the Ateca is much lighter than the car we tested last year, but it still tows extremely well.
“The 1.5-litre engine has 148bhp and 184Ib ft of pulling power – enough to cope with any sensibly matched caravan. Stability counts for a lot more than speed though, and the Ateca has that base well covered. Whichever spec you go for, you’ll be impressed with the big boot and the neat and user-friendly tow bar installation.”
The stylish and spacious SEAT Ateca continues to be a stand-out performer in the highly competitive mid-size SUV class. It’s available with a wide range of petrol and diesel engines which can be paired with manual or DSG-auto gearboxes and, on range-topping variants, 4Drive four-wheel-drive.
